鞘拾天地《原住民生活創意特展​》｜Sheath & Earth

有一片葉子，從樹上自然落下。它叫做檳榔鞘，在許多部落，它不只是葉子，還是生活裡的容器、文化的符碼、記憶的載體。

這次在台北的《鞘拾天地─原住民生活創意特展》，我們嘗試用這片葉子，去說一段屬於土地的故事，也是一場屬於再生的創意行動。

以「再生」為基底，從環保概念出發，我們重新看見了檳榔鞘的可能性。除了日常使用的功能，它還承載著族人與檳榔之間的深刻牽繫：在情感、婚禮、接待、聚會、入藥、入菜的每一個儀式裡，檳榔都是那個「介於之間」的角色。

它讓交流發生，也讓信仰得以延續。

我們在展場中重製了「鞘畫」，並將展區設計為一個像是部落客廳與餐桌的空間。在這裡，來自部落的葉鞘，不再只是材料，而是一種被閱讀的線索。人們來到這裡，可以聞到氣味、看到紋理、感受到自然與手作的交會。

除了靜態展示，我們也安排了導覽與茶會，讓參觀不只用眼睛，更可以用手、用心。現場還有葉鞘手作活動，邀請大家一起動手，體會什麼是生活裡的創意與文化。

我們希望這裡成為一個讓城市人放鬆、慢下來的空間。不管你是原住民、不是原住民，來過這裡的每一個人，都可以感受到土地的氣味、人情的溫度，和文化的厚度。

ある日、葉がひとひら、自然に落ちてきました。それは檳榔（ビンロウ）の葉鞘。部落では、それはただの葉ではなく、器となり、文化の記憶を包み込む、静かな存在でもあります。

今回、台北の「鞘拾天地─原住民生活創意特展」では、この一枚の葉から、土地に根ざした物語を語ることに挑戦しました。同時に、自然素材を再利用するという、創造的な循環の可能性を示したいとも思いました。

展示の中心には、「鞘画（しょうが）」と名づけた葉鞘アートがあり、空間は部落の居間や食卓をイメージしてデザインしました。葉の質感、色合い、そして使い込まれた痕跡が、見る人に語りかけるような静かな空間になればと思いました。

檳榔は、部落の生活のなかでさまざまな場面に登場します。愛の告白、婚礼、来客のもてなし、集会、薬や料理として──それはただの植物ではなく、人と人、人と神、人と土地をつなぐ媒介となってきました。

この展覧会では、展示だけでなく、葉鞘の手作り体験や、ガイド付きのお茶会なども行いました。訪れた方々に、見るだけではなく、触れて、感じて、語り合っていただけたら嬉しいです。

都市の中でも、ふと立ち止まり、深呼吸できる場所を。そんな空間を目指して、私たちはこの展覧会を企画しました。

A leaf falls, quietly and naturally.It’s an areca sheath —more than just a leaf in many Indigenous communities.It becomes a vessel, a symbol, a quiet keeper of cultural memory.

In Sheath & Earth: Indigenous Living and Creative Exhibition in Taipei,we tried to tell a story that begins with that single leaf.The exhibition grew from a desire to explore not only the beauty of this natural material,but also the creative possibilities of reuse, renewal, and cultural meaning.

At the center of the exhibition were our sheath paintings —pieces made from areca sheaths, carefully shaped and composed.We designed the space like a living room or dining table in the village,hoping visitors would not only see the works, but feel the rhythms of daily life inside them.

Areca has long played a role in Indigenous life.It appears in love offerings, weddings, welcoming guests, community gatherings, healing, and food.It is more than a plant — it’s a mediator between people, land, and ceremony.

Alongside the exhibition, we hosted guided tea gatherings and hands-on workshops.We invited visitors to not just look, but to touch, to listen, and to make.

In a fast-moving city, we wanted to offer a moment of pause.A space to breathe, to connect with nature and memory —and to imagine how something as simple as a fallen leaf could open that door.
